Delete your Becoming account

Applies to Becoming (com.becoming) on iOS and Android · Apparent Group Limited

You can delete your Becoming account and its data from inside the app at any time. You do not need to email us and you do not need to ask permission. This page describes exactly what the app does, using the same wording you will see on screen.

Deletion is immediate and permanent. The app erases your data the moment you confirm — there is no grace period, no recycle bin and no way to restore the account afterwards. Copies may persist for a limited period in encrypted backups, as set out in our Privacy Policy. If you only want to stop being charged, cancel the subscription instead — see Cancelling your subscription below.

Delete from inside the app

  1. Open Becoming and tap the right-most icon in the bottom tab bar (the profile tab — the tabs are icons only, with no labels). The screen is titled Profile.
  2. In the Settings card, tap General. This opens General Settings.
  3. Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account (it sits below Sign Out).
  4. A dialog asks “Are you sure you want to Delete your account?” and warns that the action is permanent. Tap Continue.
  5. On “Why are you leaving?”, pick a reason — Not using it, Found Alternative or Other. Choosing Other lets you type up to 300 characters. Tap Continue.
  6. Confirm it is you:
    • If you signed up with an email address and password, the screen reads “Enter your password to confirm”. Type your current password and tap Continue.
    • If you signed in with Google or Apple, the screen reads “Confirm account deletion” and asks you to verify your identity by signing in with that provider again. Tap Continue and complete the provider’s prompt.
  7. The app shows Account Deleted and returns you to the welcome screen. It is done at that point — nothing is queued.

What is deleted

Everything stored under your account is removed at the moment you confirm:

  • Your saved affirmations, collections and playlists (including everything inside them)
  • Your journal entries and mood history
  • Your listening and viewing history, and your reminders
  • Your custom themes, preferences and personalisation answers
  • Your reactions, feedback and reports attached to individual quotes
  • Every file you uploaded — journal photos, your profile picture and custom theme images
  • Your sign-in account itself, so the email address is free to be used again

What is kept, and why

  • The reason you gave for leaving. It is stored on its own, with no name, email address or account identifier attached to it, so it cannot be traced back to you. We use it only to understand why people leave.
  • Messages you sent us. If you previously submitted feedback or contacted support from inside the app, or reported a quote, that record is stored separately from your account and is not removed automatically. If you want those removed too, email hello@apparentgroup.co from the address you used and we will delete them.
  • Purchase records. The App Store and Google Play keep their own record of a purchase, and we may keep the minimum transaction and tax records the law requires. Neither contains your journal, your affirmations or anything you wrote.

Cancelling your subscription

Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription. Subscriptions are billed by Apple or Google, not by us, so they have to be cancelled where they were bought — and they keep renewing until you do. Cancel first, then delete.

  • iPhone or iPad: Settings → tap your name → Subscriptions → Becoming → Cancel Subscription.
  • Android: Play Store → your profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Becoming → Cancel subscription.

Cancelling stops the next renewal. You keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies, not by us.

If you cannot get into the app

If you have lost access to your account and cannot complete the steps above, email hello@apparentgroup.co from the email address on the account and ask us to delete it. We may ask you a question only you could answer before we act, so that nobody else can delete your account.
